Pelvic Floor to Release Stress and Improve Bowels

During some of our classes in May we will be focusing on our pelvic floor (PF).  Our PF is a powerful area of our body that offers us a wealth of strength, sensation, information, connection and vitality. Unfortunately, most discussions around the PF are when we are talking about sex or pregnancy.

The pelvic floor impacts so many important bodily functioning.  If we are not aware of our PF these might manifest into problems such as incontinence, pain during sex, inability to achieve orgasm or more general pain that is usually the result of tightness. It can also present itself as tight hamstrings, a weak deep core, a bloated belly, lower back pain and/or a hernia.


The pelvic floor is made up of 3 layers of 16 individual muscles some of which are very small.

These layers attach like a hammock to 3 points -  the pubic bone, tailbone, and sitz bones.

Our pelvic floor serves as the base of our deepest core, supports our organs and for women supports our children when they are in utero. 

This hammock life design is meant to ensure the pelvic floor can move and expand tremendously, contract powerfully and release entirely.

When we clutch the PF we are thrown into an unnatural state of limited movement. Many of us do this without even realizing it.  Our PF becomes glued down and fixed into a position that reinforces this unnatural consistent contraction. Not only does this result in pain and disease in the pelvic floor but it also forces the rest of our body to compensate.

This is why I wanted to focus some of our classes this month on the pelvic floor. We are going to learn how to isolate the muscles here in order to activate and relax them which will give you the power to control how you deal with stress. When you clutch your indicating to your body and brain that you are stressed, compressed and coiling in.  When you relax your pelvic floor muscles, the rest of your body believes it and follows suit.

During our classes I'm going to empower you to understand how your body deals with stress and where and how you hold stress. It will help you feel relaxed, calm and strong which can make you look and feel more vibrant and useful. It will also create more fluidity of flexibility in your hips and pelvis and connect you to the base of your core.


This will also help those with digestive issues and bowel issues.
